  • 3 Interns brought in to work on Training Program Monday - Friday, 9am -5pm -MMCA launched the Basic Math Skills Assessments Starting Feb. 20, 2007 -Monthly Meeting Attendance (?)

 

March 2007

  • MMCA Board of Directors' Retreat March 10, from 8am - 3:00 pm at Urban League Building, Attendance 12 of 20.
  • MMCA/AGC monthly meeting, MMCA Awarded (9) plaques to AGO General Contractors' for Networking Session - 2007
  • MMCA hired Part-Time office staff Bonnie Floyd to work on Training Program
  • The idea of a For-profit business was developed and introduced to MMCA members to establish a printing business

April 2007

  • MMCA Partnered with the Urban League of Central Carolinas and Charlotte Area Fund to provide training for MMCA's members and others individuals interested in Construction.

May 2007

  • Blue Print Reading class in session (12) participants
  • Members volunteered to serve on a Site Selection Committee for the For-profit business -Meeting with Attorney on incorporation of the for-profit business
  • Monthly meeting attendance (12) and BOD meeting (9)

 

June 2007

  • MMCA offers OSHA classes to members and other minority individuals (13) participants
  • Name chosen for the For-profit business "Metrolina Reprographics, Inc. (MRI) -Metrolina Reprographics Printing Business initial stock offering
  • Site Selection Committee makes a recommendation on the location for MRI. Monthly meeting attendance (16) and BOD meeting 10.

 

July 2007

  • Metrolina Reprographics, Inc. announces its Grand Opening date -3rd Annual MMCA BBQ Fellowship 45 - 50 attended
  • MMCA Monthly meeting (9), BOD meeting attendance (5)

 

August 2007

  • Metrolina Reprographics opens for business on August 27, 2007 at 4520 North Tryon Street, Suite 7, Charlotte, N. C.
  • MMCA/AGC monthly meeting
  • MMCA completed updating our membership database
  • Monthly meeting attendance (13) BOD meeting (7)

 

September 2007

  • MMCA meets with City of Charlotte, Economic Development, Director Tom Flynn and Alicia Jolla, attendance (6)
  • President Mike High proposes the EXPO as a fundraiser, projected $10,000 in sponsorship; outlines plans for EXPO
  • MMCA/AGC monthly meeting, we discussed AGC's website features
  • Monthly meeting attendance (9) and BOD meeting (6)

 

October 2007

  • MMCA completes the Construction Training Program and submits report to Grantor for the $25,000 grant funds
  • City of Charlotte, Director of SBO, Alicia Jolla guest speaker, and Council James Mitchell
  • President announces the theme of EXPO "Bridging The Gap in Construction" -20th Anniversary of MMCA introduced 1988- 2008
  • Monthly meeting attendance (13) BOD meeting (7)

 

November 2007

  • MMCA's 2008 budget proposed and Election of officers announced -EXPO is rescheduled
  • MMCA offers QuickBooks training at Urban League (4) participated -Monthly meeting attendance (10) BOD meeting (7)

 

December 2007

  • MMCA received $7,500 from the North Carolina Institute of Minority Economic Development for the printing equipment
  • MMCA requesting to use grant funds for printing services for MMCA's members and minority contractors
  • 3rd Annual MMCA's Holiday Celebration attendance 25
